1976 Silverado |
This is the fifth 73-87 truck I owned, and by far the ugliest...so I named it Frankenstein. I purchased this truck off E-bay with the intentions of cleaning it up, selling it, and making a small profit on it. As you can see, the truck had seen better days and needed a lot of TLC. The first thing I did was to remove the topper, running boards, and mangled rear bumper. After that I removed the mouse-eaten seat, cleaned the interior of all its garbage from the previous owner, and put in a nicer junkyard dash bezel to replace the broken original one. I then purchased and installed a nice seat from the same junkyard, and washed the truck numerous times inside and out (it was extremely dirty). Because it had four mismatched tires on it (all worn too), I picked up a complete set of matching, and free, tires from a buddy and mounted them on 4 spare Rally wheels I had laying around. Although the truck looked good from 15 feet away, it had a lot of rust, a few paint jobs on it, and more bondo than I care to mention. Since the truck ran and drove pretty well, I was able to sell it and actually made a small profit like I had planned...all while having fun bringing Frankenstein back from the near dead.
