1977 Chevrolet Blazer

This is my sixth and latest acquisition, a 1977 Chevrolet Blazer named Woody.  I actually stumbled across the Blazer by accident, and it has a somewhat interesting story behind it.

It was the summer of 2002 and I was visiting my local speed shop purchasing parts for Yeller, upon arriving I noticed the Blazer sitting in the parking lot with no cars in sight.  I noticed it was a '77 because of the one year only yellow trim on the sides, I also noticed it was lowered, had a remarkably clean body, had a very clean interior, and of course the woodgrain trim!   As I was paying for my parts, I asked the owner of the shop if he knew anything about the Blazer.  In a somewhat brief reply he said "yes" and mentioned it could be mine for the right price.  Of course I had to ask (even though I was flat broke at the time) what he was looking for, and I believe he said $2800.  Giving the condition of the Blazer, I knew this was a good deal, but like I just mentioned..I was broke and had to walk away without it.

Fast forward to the summer of 2003.

Once again, I was heading to the same shop, again to purchase more parts for Yeller.  When I pulled into the lot I immediately noticed the same Blazer sitting there all by itself.  I asked the owner once again, what was the deal with the Blazer and asked if it was still for sale.  He told me it was still for sale and also mentioned if it didn't sell by the end of the month, he was going to chop it up and tub it (they build race cars there too).  Since it had been about two years at the time since I last drove Yeller, I was craving the opportunity to own a "fun" truck once again...this was my opportunity.  I came back a few days later, paid for it, and drove it home.

It turns out the previous owner had his car in their shop getting some work done to it, when it came time to pay for the car, he did not have enough money...but wanted/needed his car back.  He and the owner of the shop ended up working out a deal and traded the Blazer for the balance of the bill.   The shop owner was simply trying to sell the Blazer to get his money for the work they performed.

The Woody is in excellent condition with 78,XXX original miles.  It is has a 350 4-barrel, dual exhaust, ice cold A/C, and woodgrain trim...just to name a few.  I know the woodgrain trim may be out there, but it is factory and a fairly rare option...not to mention I am a sucker for oddball, non-mainstream stuff.  Future plans call for new wheels, some minor rust repair, new carpet, and some typical TLC here and there.
